“Hi, I’m Kat! I swam competitively for 10 years before starting to dance in college. Within a semester, I decided that flailing on stage was way more fun than swim practice, and I’ve been dancing ever since! After learning multiple dances over the years, including hip hop, contemporary, ballroom, salsa/bachata, fusion, etc., I finally found West Coast Swing in 2018.

I love that WCS combines the creative aspects of solo dance, the technical/competitive aspects of ballroom, and the social element of other partner dance communities in a single dance. I also love learning and sharing my passions with others, which often involves teaching WCS basics at friends’ apartments and more formally with Swingiversity!”
