On Fridays, (excluding Flow Friday nights) Galen Chen will offer WCS classes with an unstructured practice afterwards. The focus will be on growth that creates enjoyable dances regardless of skill level.

Class Descriptions –

FUNdamentals 1.0:
A quick and easy first pass at partner dancing! West coast swing is a partner dance done to modern music, and Swingiversity’s FUNdamentals 1.0 class offers a fun and rewarding approach to learning and dancing. We prioritize clarity around the important parts, and leave plenty of time to practice and mingle with other beginners. Come out and learn the basics with us, and leave ready to enjoy your first (of many!) social dances.

FUNdamentals 2.0:
Skill up your west coast swing while meeting other people in the community! The FUNdamentals 2.0 class is a great place to continue learning common patterns with your peers and the concepts that make them fun and easy. We’ll cover ways to adapt and succeed with different partners, how to apply creativity to our basic patterns, and a handful of cool moves to add to your repertoire.

Open Practice:
Hang out and practice your dance in a low stress environment! Practice will not be structured. Show up to do solo
drilling, practice a move with multiple partners, or just talk about the dance. Music will be playing, and other dancers will be around to practice with. An instructor will be available to answer questions and provide guidance when asked.

Leveling guide –

These classes will not be focused on competitive leveling, though it will be referenced and used as a loose guideline for appropriate class levels.

FUNdamentals 1.0: Complete beginner, will cover the basic patterns through tuck turns and whips.

FUNdamentals 2.0: Continued learning combining concepts and drills with patterns through roll in roll outs, whip with turns, and more.
